Red Sox Trade Valencia to Baltimore

The Baltimore Orioles have acquired infielder Danny Valencia from the Boston Red Sox for cash.
Valencia, 28, broke into the majors in 2010 with Minnesota and had his best season in 2011 when he hit .246 with 15 home runs and 72 RBIs.
However, last season he played in just 44 games with Minnesota and Boston combined. He hit.188 with three homers and 21 RBIs.
The Orioles designated infielder Joe Mahoneyfor assignment to make room for Valencia on their 40-man roster.
