Braves interested in left-hander Joe Thatcher

According to Jon Morosi of Fox Sports, the Atlanta Braves are interested in San Diego Padres‘ left-hander Joe Thatcher. Atlanta has been seeking a lefty reliever for a quite a while now.

Thatcher, who’s 31 years-old, is posting a 2.25 ERA with 28 strikeouts in 28 innings for the Padres this season. In seven year in the majors, the left-hander owns a 3.21 ERA with a 9.6 K/9 and 3.2 BB/9 in 284 appearances with the Padres. Thatcher is in last year of arbitration eligibility and will become a free agent after the 2015 season.

James Russell, Mike Gonzalez and Wesley Wright are a few left-handed relievers which are on general manager Frank Wren’s wish list. Oliver Perez, Mike Dunn, Scott Downs and James Russell are other names that have been metioned.
